What type of dwelling did you build & why

We extended and retrofitted my late grand aunts cottage. We worked with Ashgrove Renewables and received full grant support under the Community Energy scheme. We used the thermohouse block on the extension and the thermoroof system throughout. We undertook a lot of the work ourselves with great help from family.

Why did you choose Thermohouse? /key factors helped decision to use Thermohouse Building system

I was impressed by the detail the ICF extension allowed for at the old cottage interface. The external insulation neatly butts against the ICF walls. We replaced the cottage roof with a thermoroof. This means the roof  & external insulation butt directly for a continuous insulation wrap.

The SEAI grant helped with the cost of the cottage roof. We also had a very good final airtightness result. We successfully obtained all available grant support and our home is A1 rated.

As first time users of the system, the help from the Thermohouse technical team was great. This included an on site demonstration and later-on a site & factory visit.

Would you recommend Thermohouse/ how has the experience been

We’re now into our second Winter in the home and really appreciate the warmth & comfort of a Thermohouse. The cottage detailing has meant there is no discernible difference between it and the rest of home.

We found the team very responsive and helpful throughout the process from logistics to technical queries. The install manual is comprehensive & there was always someone on the end of the phone as queries arose on occasion.
