After a 2-year period of researching the different building systems we contacted Thermohouse to discuss our options and the process of building an ICF house.

We were taken through the process by Thermohouse Engineer Paudie O Connor. Initially we explored the option of engaging a building contractor for the construction process. In the end we took the project on as a self-build consisting of a 2800 square foot H- Shaped House using ThermoWalls, ThermoFloor and ThermoRoof with a Bosch IVT Air to Water heat pump and underfloor heating system with Heat Recovery.

On day one of our build we had Dony Kelly on site to guide us on the elements of the system and setting out the of our wall structure. We continued the process ourselves along with some assistance from family and friends (none of us being professional trades-persons). When required, we organised for Thermohouse installers (Marcin and Billy) to assist us with the installation of some of the tricky elements of the walls and the roof panels. We are in the process of weather proofing the building with roof, windows and doors complete, we are now at the stage of applying our external render.

The Thermohouse system ticked the boxes for our self-build. We are very happy with our decision to use the Thermohouse building system and would recommend it to anyone else considering a new build. The product is top quality, but more importantly, we carried out this build without a builder / trades-person background and the support, guidance we received from the team at Thermohouse got us to where we are today, we have a lot done but more to do. Hopefully we will be in our new home in early 2020 enjoying the benefits of our ICF build.
