Killarney, Co. Kerry

Project Overview

The client contacted Thermohouse with the intention of constructing an energy efficient bungalow with a floor area of approx. 250m2 as a holiday home in Killarney, Co. Kerry for his return trips to Ireland.

On viewing the design and in consultation with the client Thermohouse re-designed the internal layout of the dwelling to maximise the benefits of the Thermohouse low energy building system and were able to provide a more open plan layout. With the benefit of using the Thermoroof passive roofing panel, the re-design also provided vaulted ceilings to the lounge and dining areas which totally changed the internal living environment of the dwelling much to the clients delight.

Another benefit of using the Thermoroof passive roofing panels is that there is the possibility of providing approx. 130m2 floor area in the remaining attic space for future use.

Thermohouse were contracted to supply and install all external walls, internal load bearing walls, Thermoroof passive roofing panels and Thermoboard insulation panels to the ground floor for the installation of underfloor heating pipes to which the client agrees, after moving in and experiencing living in the system, he will probably rarely require its use.
